SOUTH BEND—Today, the South Bend Firefighter’s PAC endorsed Democrat Pete Buttigieg for mayor of South Bend.
"South Bend's firefighters live and work in this community and have a vested interest in a strong and vibrant city," said Todd Skwarcan, chairman of the South Bend Firefighter’s PAC and vice-president of Local 362. "We believe South Bend has a bright future and Pete has the vision and determination to make that future a reality."
Buttigieg accepted the endorsement from a group of South Bend firefighters at their association hall on Lincoln Way West.
"I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the South Bend firefighters," said Buttigieg. "Public safety is the top responsibility of a mayor and our city’s firefighters are dedicated professionals who protect our families, homes, and neighborhoods every single day. I look forward to working with our firefighters as mayor."
The South Bend Firefighters are a local organization of the International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CIO, CLC. The political action committee’s endorsement comes with a $5,000 contribution to benefit the Pete for South Bend committee.
